‘Girls Next Door’ star’s breasts get $1M insurance policy

‘Girls Next Door’ star’s breasts get $1M insurance policy: Holly Madison, Hugh Hefner's ex-girlfriend, who co-stars in the reality show "Girls Next Door”, took $ one million insurance policy with Lloyd's of London to convince her breasts, told People magazine Thursday. Madison, who currently appears in "Peepshow," Las Vegas 'Planet Hollywood', because: “If anything happened to my boobs, I’d be out for a few months and I’d probably be out a million dollars. I thought I’d cover my assets.” Madison had plastic surgery in 2001, changing her size from an A-cup to a D-cup. She has discussed the surgery openly, citing confidence and self-esteem issues as her reason for the big change. This is not the first case of entertainment icons insuring their bodies. In the ’80s, Van Halen front man David Lee Roth took out a $1 million insurance policy on his sperm. And Mary Hart, who made her fame on Entertainment Tonight, had an insurance policy on her legs. Silver screen legend Betty Grable was known in her day as “the girl with the million dollar legs” because her “gams” “as they were called then” were insured for that much. But today's disk can only be Heidi Klum. Project Runway host has told the tabloid TV show Extra this month that the legs are insured for $ 2,000,000.‘Girls Next Door’ star’s breasts get $1M insurance policy:

The Collapse of the Braves, And the Shine Just Came Out Fredi Gonzalez

The Collapse of the Braves, And the Shine Just Came Out Fredi Gonzalez: Fredi Gonzalez quietly gave the senior management of the Braves, Bobby Cox, who never fired before in an instant face-wink, nudge nudge, and nobody really had a problem with it. His resume and personality, everyone loved and respected him. He knew the players, the organization and the city. The Braves were not in the principal's office because they were changing a light bulb. Something went wrong. This is not a “Fire Fredi Gonzalez” column. But we’ve just witnessed one of the worst collapses in sports history, and the Braves can’t just assume that a few roster tweaks are going to fix the problem. When a team goes 10-20 down the stretch including 0-9 against their two biggest competitors “Philadelphia and St. Louis” and loses three consecutive series to the division’s flotsam “Mets, Marlins, Nationals”, this isn’t just about injuries or a few guys being in a slump. The vibe was missing this season. That’s on Gonzalez. The team fell apart when it needed to come together, blowing an 8½-game lead in 23 days. That’s on Gonzalez. The Braves seemed tight and meek and borderline frightened, as if waiting, hoping, white-knuckle-praying for a playoff spot to just fall into their lap. They didn’t just take it and didn’t play like they felt they deserved it. That’s certainly on Gonzalez. The shine just came off the perfect replacement. I understand this isn’t football. Managers make in-game decisions but they aren’t calling plays. They change the lineup and the batting order. Gonzalez did that. He pulled Chipper Jones out of the No. 3 spot. He benched Jason Heyward. Ultimately, the question is whether a manager is making a team better, making it believe. The Braves clearly weren’t, therefore Gonzalez clearly didn’t. Even with injuries, this was twice the team that reached the postseason last year and lost three one-run games to the eventual World Series champions in San Francisco. Gonzalez doesn’t need to go. But he needs to change something, and maybe someone. Maybe it’s his hitting coach “because for all the screams from the cheap seats to dump Terry Pendleton, Larry Parrish brought nothing to the table”. Maybe it’s hisown approach. Maybe Gonzalez came in and, consciously or subconsciously, didn’t want to disrupt things too much in the first season after Bobby Cox retired. If so, that backfired. When asked about the collapse following Wednesday’s final loss, Chipper Jones said, “It’s cruel, because probably nobody in Atlanta sports is probably under as much scrutiny as he is filling in for Bobby Cox. To have it slip away in late September, it’s cruel. It’s really cruel. It’s not indicative of the way this team played, the way he managed, and what we deserved in this situation.” Not sure about the “deserved” part of that quote. The Braves just played 162 games. That’s enough time. They blew it. They blew it like no team in Atlanta sports history. That blew it like few teams in all of sports history. The only people who aren’t saying today that they blew it live in Boston, because they’ve got their own problems. What just happened is mind-numbing. But even before the collapse, the Braves seemed to have chemistry issues. They never quite came together like most anticipated. This was a team that figured to challenge Philadelphia in the National League East and possibly a World Series. There aren’t a lot of tangible things we can pin on Gonzalez. He certainly stuck with Derek Lowe too long, and the decision to start him Tuesday over rookie Julio Teheran blew up in the manager’s face. He made the bold decision to go with Jose Constanza over the struggling Heyward in right field for several starts, which seemed to ignite the lineup. But then switched to Heyward, who is the better player, but still seemed confused, But he never had to make that decision or any other country begins Lowe. When a team goes 10-20 to close the season and is swept at home for the last three games, things are bigger than this. Implosions are also the leader. He did not make the team better. Underachieved Braves, Gonzalez and just lost my support. The Collapse of the Braves, And the Shine Just Came Out Fredi Gonzalez:

Walter Payton

Walter Payton "Every decade has generated a great athlete in a professional sport, where fans know they cannot do anything wrong. Former Bears running back Walter Payton was one of those athletes. However, the book release Jeff Pearlman is October 4 reveals the dark side of man, once known as "sweetener". Walter Payton died in November of 1999 to a rare liver disease and bile duct cancer after a Hall of Fame career in which he retired as the NFL’s leader in yards rushed, two MVP trophies and a Super Bowl ring. Despite being beloved by Chicagoans and most fans of football, Jeff Pearlman will reveal the Hall of Famer in his book, “Sweetness: The Enigmatic Life of Walter Payton” as a suicidal man who abused pain medication and had a crumbling family situation. Excerpts of the book are scheduled to be printed in the Oct. 3 edition of Sports Illustrated, “Walter would call me all the time saying he was about to kill himself, he was tired,” Payton’s longtime agent Bud Holmes said, according to SI.com. “He was angry. Nobody loved him. He wanted to be dead.” Payton’s executive assistant Ginny Quirk further confirmed Holmes’ sentiments.  “He would call and say, ‘you won’t see me when you get to the office tomorrow,’ ” she said.” ‘Enjoy life without me.’ “In the book, Pearlman describes how Payton used pain killers during his playing days, which continued beyond his retirement and caused depression and a world of hurt to his family. Sources told Pearlman that Payton took a cocktail of Tylenol and vicodin and kept a tank of nitrous oxide in his garage. “Walter was pounding his body with medication,” Holmes said. “I wish I knew how bad it was, but at the time I really didn’t.” Walter’s wife doesn’t deny all of the accusations. She claims to have not been interviewed for the entire book and knew about Walter’s affairs and drug use, which was part of the reason they were living separate from each other since he had retired.  "Walter, as not everything was perfect," the statement said Connie Payton's wife, his family and the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation. "The challenges were well known by those who loved and lived with him:" It was an ideal father to Jarrett and Brittney and a special place in the world of football and Chicago community.  Recent disclosures some true, some untrue do not change this. I’m saddened that anyone would attempt to profit from these stories, many told by people with little credibility.” While most of the accusations seem impossible for a man of his stature who was loved by everyone who watched him play, Quirk made it obvious that everything that glittered wasn’t gold. Even though Payton and his wife were still married, the Hall of Famer was seeing another woman for five years when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993. “The introduction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is supposed to be the greatest moment in his life,” said Quirk, who was charged with keeping the women apart. “And in truth, it was probably the worst. Four full days, and Lita “not the real name of Payton’s mistress” and Connie were like two ships passing in the night. If Connie was scheduled to come late, I’d make sure Lita was there early. If Connie was there early, Lita would be there late. I can’t describe the horror of that trip.” Despite Quirk trying to keep the women apart, they did end up meeting. “I introduced the two of them, and they sat and talked for a quite a while,” Holmes said, according to the excerpt. "They were friendly, talkative. There was no hair-pulling. He was very polite." According to Holmes, Connie called the meeting and told the woman: "You can have  He does not want me or the kids"Walter Payton

Chipper Jones sat out Sunday's game beside the Phillies later an MRI

Chipper Jones sat out Sunday's game beside the Phillies later an MRI: Chipper Jones made plans for an MRI exam on Tuesday afternoon to offer to understand how much damage he did while playing through a right knee discomfort. Jonesin right knee bothered him most of the season and has only slightly improved since he underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair torn meniscus in July. 39 years, veteran third baseman seemed to aggravate the knee went into second base third base during the sixth inning Monday night loss to the Phillies. MRI can only give you peace of mind Jones. He said that after Monday's game that he was going to play the Braves on Tuesday and Wednesday to frame a series against the Phillies, and try to maintain a leadership position in the National League Wild Card race. The Braves own a one-game lead over the Cardinals in the Wild Card race entering Tuesday and their magic number to clinch sits at two. Jones played the entirety of Monday night’s game and was able to push himself as he sprinted to first base attempting to prevent a double play in the eighth inning. But he has found some success, he homered on Monday of the first inning off Cliff Lee then doubled off the left-handed Phillies sixth inning. Surprise suspension for Cedric Benson

Surprise suspension for Cedric Benson: Cedric Benson has served as a prison days before the first game against Cincinnati Cleveland, but he has not heard by Commissioner Roger Good ell, who had many fans of the Bengals believe they were out of the woods. Not at all The League has swept three games suspension Benson, according to Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports. Fantasy owners don’t have to panic yet because Benson will play this week pending an appeal that will be heard on Tuesday, according to Silver. What’s shocking about this is that Benson isn’t being punished for what he went to jail for he already met with good ell last summer in relation to the 2010 assault charge that landed him in the slammer in late August. Instead, he’s been suspended for an assault charge he’s facing stemming from an incident that took place in July during the lockout. No other player has been penalized by the league for bad behavior during the work stoppage. Kenny Britt and Aqib Talib went unscathed despite some fairly serious legal mishaps during that time period. So we’ll see if this gets messy or if Benson takes his medicine after what is likely to be a lost appeal. In this case, fantasy owners Benson are paying a price. Benson, who was quickly extinguished early in 2011, is expected to go against beatable Bills, Jaguars and leaders at weeks 4, 5 and 6 and yes, it was quite a day in Cincinnati. "Step Down" Andy Rooney, Was He Pushed?

"Step Down" Andy Rooney, Was He Pushed?: Andy Rooney is the only thing he said he would never give up "60 Minutes. Rooney, 92, will be released at the end of Sunday's" 60 Minutes ". In the last two months of weekly commentaries reliable Rooney were often cut out of the CBS, apparently to make way for the reports. Rooney has steadfastly maintained that he would never leave “60 Minutes” voluntarily, because he wouldn’t know what to do with his free time and he enjoys composing his weekly commentaries. Draw your own conclusions. Rooney’s final essay the 1097th during his tenure on “60 Minutes,” which began in 1978 will be preceded by a segment in which Morley Safer debriefs him about his career.

Chris Christie Ron Paul should kidnap

Chris Christie Ron Paul should kidnap: Ron Paul can win. He can kidnap Chris Christie. Hold Christie hostage in a cabin. With Christie now receiving the media adoration once given to the buffoon Donald Trump, and then poured on the hapless Rick Perry, my kidnap plan could propel Paul to the White House. Here's how it would work: all morning, outside the cabin, Paul could host a news conference to end the Christie kidnap. Imagine: With the media herd hungrily assembled, Chris Mathews would breathlessly ask Paul: "When will you release Christie?” Ron would reply: "I'll that discuss that soon, but first I want to discuss my plans to end secrecy of the Federal Reserve Board" to the huge audience. Matt Drudge and Roger Ailes would have a field day with the Christie kidnap. Drudge would banner in bold: CHRISTIE TAKEN PRISONER. Media coverage would surge. Ailes, who's turned Republican debates into a fact show, as Howard Kurtz brilliantly writes in Newsweek, would apply Fox money to hire a mercenary army to liberate Christie, with live coverage of the liberation on the Bill O'Reilly show. But before the Ailes force lands the next morning, with Christie still in custody, Paul would emerge before the hungry media herd again. Wolf Blitzer would ask: "When will you release Christie?" Ron would reply: "Wolf, I'll discuss that soon, but first I want to discuss why I believe America is militarily overextended, which skyrockets our national debt.” Carville might say: It's about time! Castellanos might say: This could propel Paul, but the big winner is Mitt Romney. Gergen might say, an interesting strategy, but we have to balance all considerations. Think about it. Ron Paul would have the biggest audience in history, and could address the nation about its future, while the media herd awaits the Christie release. Of course, I'm kidding. If you think these sounds like the great film “Network,” you are right. But I am making some big points here. First, Ron Paul, Herman Cain and Jon Huntsman are all, for different reasons, being treated as national non-persons by the political media. 2nd, political media has become a national freak show that moves from one flavor of the month to the next, without seriously addressing the things that voters care deeply about. Like jobs, wars, mortgages and poverty. Who looked more asinine, Donald Trump running for president against the president's birth certificate, or political TV personalities who treated him seriously as a potential commander in chief? Poor Rick Perry. He never understood that the beast that praised him, as it now praises Christie, will devour him, as it will devour Christie if he runs, which he's almost certainly too smart to do. 3rd, it is impossible to have a serious discussion about serious issues on political TV. The nation hungers for serious politicians who will address serious matters, and for political television that doesn't treat the audience as though they're political consultants or village idiots. But the country hungers in vain, which is why a lot of eyeballs turn elsewhere while left, right and center mass audiences move to different media. I oppose the idea of Ron Paul kidnapping Chris Christie. It would trick political media into covering candidates and issues it ignores. It would work! But as Richard Nixon said: It would be wrong.Chris Christie Ron Paul should kidnap.

Jacoby Ellsbury MVP candidacy was solidified after a strong weekend in NY

Jacoby Ellsbury MVP candidacy was solidified after a strong weekend in NY: Red Sox are in a kind of crisis, but if Jacoby Ellsbury, who does not want to be connected first. Ellsbury played another great weekend of hitting the go-ahead three-run home run in 14 innings that have proven to be the game-winner, when the Red Sox needed a victory going to the final series of the season, three-game set in Baltimore who need to win for the playoffs, and they need to maintain a hope of success, when there are. And if they’re going to dominate, it’s going to have to start with their number-one hitter, who’s been nothing short of dominant all season. Dustin Pedroia has slumped. Adrian Gonzalez can’t get his shoulder around to drive the ball. Kevin Youkilis, for all we know, can barely stand. Carl Crawford’s been an abomination. For some reason totally unknown, JD Drew is back on the range Sunday night Josh Reddick is written, it was pretty horrible for him lately. But despite everything, had Ellsbury, contact hitter and power, field his position without problems yes, that percentage is 1.000% Fielding athletes to get into scoring position regularly and easily making it easy for the rest of his teammates, many of whom have done everything possible to make it difficult for themselves. Of course, none of it will mean anything if the Red Sox don’t at least make the playoffs, much less win the World Series, but it’s hard to ignore the kind of season that Boston’s leadoff man has had. With no discredit to Detroit’s Justin Verlander, far and away the best pitcher in the American League and probably in baseball this season, Ellsbury’s been the lone regular on a roster that’s full of ailing, underperforming divas, keeping his mouth shut and just going to work all season long. After a season in which he only played 18 games due to multiple rib injuries, many criticized Ellsbury (inappropriately) and the Red Sox’ training staff rightly for being too soft. He answered his critics in style, becoming the first Red Sox player in history to join the 30-30 club team, and do not speak much, if anything, cannot make him the perfect athlete in Boston. Curtis Grander son is going to MVP, but its collapse in September has led many to cool its value. If it is between the Gold Glove defender and a guy who plays every five games, I'll be on a regular basis.

The Torrey Smith breaking out in St. Louis

The Torrey Smith breaking out in St. Louis: The Ravens tried a lot of different receivers in recent years in an effort to make their offense more dynamic. It seems that may have found their man to Torrey Smith. The second-round pick from Maryland was its first three touchdowns in the NFL in his first sack in three NFL Sunday game against the Rams and Baltimore built a commanding lead 21-0 with 1:48 left to play in the first quarter. Smith started the scoring with a 74-yard strike from Joe Flacco on Baltimore’s first possession of the game. Touchdown number two came off play action when Smith got behind the entire Rams defense for a 41 yard score. His third score came on an 18 yard fade in the back corner of the end zone on a perfectly thrown ball with Flacco. Justin King was the main defender of RAM on all three touchdowns and the Rams might want to try another approach if they hope to make a game of what quickly becomes a leak.

Baton Rouge Police Probe End Of The LSU Fight In A Bar

Baton Rouge Police Probe End Of The LSU Fight In A Bar: As Baton Rouge Baton Rouge Police Department has completed its investigation, a bar fight in which the LSU football players, four men were wounded in battle prosecutor last month said that the proposal for dismissal of the charges the second battery can LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson against is full of inaccuracies, errors of fact and facts are irrelevant to kick back around the case.ichael Bienvenu motion presented by the prosecutor of Jefferson Lewis Unglesby Friday, who said Jefferson was arrested "baseless accusations "and that is based on the certificate of the witness only. Bienvenu said those claims are inaccurrate, and some are "patently false." "There are at least four other witnesses that testified they saw Jordan Jefferson kicking Andrew Lowery in the head," Bienvenu said Saturday. "A couple of those folks were people (who say) they actually picked Mr. (Andrew) Lowery up off the ground after Mr. Jefferson quit kicking him." Baton Rouge Police Department Chief DeWayne White told the Baton Rouge Advocate that investigators interviewed their last witness to the fight Friday and will forward the case to the District Attourney's office "in the coming days." Bienvenu wrote in an email to the Times Picayune that "I have interviewed several of these eyewitnesses myself. Mr. Jefferson's counsel knows about the existence of these eyewitnesses. He has been informed of their testimony. Hence, the allegations contained in paragraph 5 of the motion are patently false. "Moreover, many of the statements that were obtained by Mr. Fisher “early on” and by Mr. Unglesby” since taking over for Mr. Fisher” are provably false “based on video evidence” and actually serve to incriminate Mr. Jefferson rather than to exculpate him." Unglesby remained adamant that Jefferson is innocent. "I stand by everything in that motion and my witnesses," Unglesby said. "I stand by the players." Jefferson and teammate Josh Johns were arrested Aug. 26 for their alleged participation in a fight at Shady's, an off-campus bar, on Aug. 19. Jefferson and Johns were suspended by Coach Les Miles and have missed the Tigers first three games. Four men, including Lowery, sought medical attention after the fight. One of the victims suffered three cracked vertebrae, BRPD said. Offensive tackle Chris Davenpoort and wide receiver Jarvis Landry were also implicated in the fight and all four were interviewed by police. No other arrests have been made. Unglesby's motion also states two of the victims instigated multiple fights, and that racial slurs were used against LSU players. It also said there are 25 witnesses who claim Jefferson were not involved in the fight. Bienvenu questioned the relevance of racial implications toward the merits of the motion. He said earlier this week several football players came forward with statements on Jefferson's behalf and are among the 25 witnesses claiming Jefferson's innocence. "Police beat the bushes and gave every player on that team an opportunity to come forward and say what they knew," Bienvenu said. "Not a single player stepped forward. A month later, a step forward and make statements. You have to ask that. This is absurd. "No one has mentioned so far used racial slurs," he said. "Although racial slurs were used, it is not a defense to a battery box in the second degree. He reached for a hearing. It is simply thrown to the public." Unglesby PDRF said LSU fell to interview the players, except the four who were involved. "They did not try to interview another player at LSU," he said. "They had a chance Sunday and Monday to do and not do it." Unglesby said there were 18 players submit written statements delivered PDRF then. Baton Rouge Police Probe End Of The LSU Fight In A Bar

For Matt Hughes, Retirement Might Be a Good Option UFC 135 Post Fight:

For Matt Hughes, Retirement Might Be a Good Option UFC 135 Post Fight: When it's time to call it quits, it's time to call it quits. But it's time for Matt Hughes is still in the air, and a meeting with leaders Zuffa still give light to what the future brings Hughes. At 37, it is safe to say that he passed the best years of his career, but it does not appear that Hughes is ready to give up fighting game yet. “I’m not retiring,” Hughes said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. The former UFC welterweight champion went on to explain that he’d like to let the UFC make the decision to put him “on the shelf,” as opposed to deciding to hang up the gloves by his own call. If things turned out differently on Saturday night in Denver, however, the UFC would be singing a different tune. A Hughes win would have prevented any talk of retirement, according to UFC president Dana White. In fact, he’d already be brainstorming about who they’d pit the long-time UFC veteran against next. “If Matt Hughes were to beat Josh Koscheck tonight, we’d be talking about who he’s fighting next,” White said during the post-fight press conference. “I’m almost 100-percent positive he’s going to retire. I don’t think he’s going to do anything else.” The UFC and Hughes are eventually going to have a sit down about what’s next. Clearly, Hughes, like many athletes who participate in competition for years, isn’t quite ready to step down from the adrenaline rush that comes from showcasing his athletic arsenal. It seems, judging by the tone of the President of the UFC, the organization is ready to hand Hughes, his gold watch. They have already given a golden girdle Hughes again; maybe an alarm clock would be a nice accessory to this point in his life. For Hughes's guilt is the hope that it does not pull a Michael Jordan or Brett color, and said he is going, then turn around and say that he left no one wants to see. Hughes has done well for himself after more than 50 games and there is no reason to try to convince you otherwise. Will you be perfectly acceptable at this point? Enjoy the sunset, Mr. Hughes. You deserve it.For Matt Hughes, Retirement Might Be a Good Option UFC 135 Post Fight:

The wanda sykes

The wanda sykes: Wanda Sykes appears on the Ellen DeGeneres Show this Monday, and shared a few serious personal information, and talk show hostess: a breast has been double-After discovering she had breast cancer during the surgery. 47-year-old comedian was having a breast reduction after years of discomfort on the chest large. "This was in February. I went to the reduction. I was really big boobs and I got tired of knocking stuff over. Every time we eat. Oh, Lord. I had to carry everywhere I go stick Tide. It wasn’t until after the reduction that in the lab work, the pathology, that they found that I had DCIS “ductal carcinoma in situ” in my left breast. I was very, very lucky because DCIS is basically stage-zero cancer. So I was very lucky. According to People, Sykes has a family history of breast cancer and decided that having both breasts removed was her best option.  She told DeGeneres “It sounds scary up front, but what do you want? Do you want to wait and not be as fortunate when it comes back and it’s too late?” The Emmy Award-winner was initially hesitant about coming forward with her ordeal: “I was like, I don’t know, should I talk about it or what? How many things could I have? I’m Black, then Lesbian. I can’t be the poster child for everything, At least with the LGBT issues we get a parade, we get a float, it’s a party. “But” I was real hesitant about doing this, because I hate walking. I got a lot of [cancer] walks coming up.”The wanda sykes:

Congress isn’t acting, ‘so I will’ Obama on No Child Left Behind:

Congress isn’t acting, ‘so I will’ Obama on No Child Left Behind: Earlier this morning, announced that President Obama's policy may exclude from the federal No Child Left behind (NCLB) Act, after a long dissatisfaction with the 9-year national educational policy. (A complete look at what the White House wants states to give in exchange for an exemption from the federal education law, read the Independent American division, here.) "Congress has failed to remedy those deficiencies previously. I asked Congress for a while, we go to a concerted effort to correct this now, "the president said during a media event inside. "Our children only get one shot at a good education.  They cannot afford to wait any longer.  So, given that Congress cannot act, I am acting.” The president stood with U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan and various state government and education leaders. Underlying the bipartisan collaboration the administration has fostered on the state level, Gov. Bill Haslam (R-Tenn.) introduced Obama, stating he looks forward “to the federal government narrowing its role in education.” Haslam added: “Education decisions are best made at the state and local level. Under the 2002 legislation, students are permitted to transfer to new schools if their current schools fail to meet state proficiency two years in a row. Even more costly, 20 percent of an under-performing school’s federal dollars is redirected to fund tutoring services for low-income students after three years of missing state standards. The buildup of high-stakes testing that determine whether the state is meeting proficiency benchmarks  called Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) was established by the federal law but allowed for states to craft the specifics. Though the president’s remarks were light on the details having his administration staff lay out the terms in a closed session with journalists Thursday education policy analyst Ulrich Boser of Center for American Progress said the live event demonstrates his commitment to education policy. “The president has the bully pulpit  in light of the impending United Nations vote on Palestinian statehood and a looming government shutdown,” Boser said,” this is significant from a policy and political perspective that he did speak about it.” During a briefing to reporters Thursday, senior administration officials laid out the White House’s expectations before granting states the option to opt out of the punitive portions of NCLB, calling it the “flexibility package.” Broadly, states would need to develop a set of instructional standards that are college- and career-ready, They asked to adopt School Improvement Grant provisions like turning around the bottom five percent of schools in terms of performance while having plans in place to improve schools with low graduation rates and subsets of the student body that are considerably behind their peers. Kristen Amundson, head of communications at education think tank Education Sector based in Washington, D.C., said the emphasis on flexibility, and by extension, the dearth of expected quantifiable outputs, is intentional. “The department seems very sincere in laying out general parameters for improving systems without hard numbers. I would be surprised if they did,” she said. Congress isn’t acting, ‘so I will’ Obama on No Child Left Behind:

Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days

Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days: The governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, is reconsidering its decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race, and he says he has not left the top Republican donors to know in a few days of his plans, NewsMax has learned. During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary. These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires. A source familiar with the meeting suggested that Christie seemed inclined to enter the race but said he needed more time.Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days:

Chris Christie Reconsider Run 2012

Chris Christie Reconsider Run 2012: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to reconsider its decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race - and he says he will leave early Republican donors in a few days to know about their plans, Newsmax has learned. In recent weeks, several major donors and fundraisers Republicans have urged the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and enter the Republican primary. These supporters Christie said the strong support of Republicans stayed away from the main event. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires. A source familiar with the meeting suggested that Christie seemed inclined to enter the race but said he needed more time. Christie promised to make a final decision “within two weeks,” the source said. Another source involved in GOP fundraising tells Newsmax that that uncommitted fundraisers and donors have been receiving phone calls from top political aides to Christie, seeking their feedback about his possible entry into the race. Earlier this week Christie hinted at the effort to draft him when he spoke at a special forum that included Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. Christie suggested to an audience at New Jersey’s Rider University that the current GOP candidates are not answering the public’s appetite for real leadership. “I think what the country is thirsting for, more than anything else right now, is someone of stature and credibility to tell them that and say, ‘Here’s where I want us to go to deal with this crisis,’” Christie said. Christie continued: “The fact that nobody yet who’s running for president, in my view, has done that effectively is why you continue to hear people ask Daniels if he’ll reconsider and ask me if I’ll reconsider.” Christie has consistently and categorically stated that he would not run for president in 2012, noting he had significant work still to accomplish in New Jersey. But New Jersey and New York Republican donors and bundlers who have backed Christie also have been courted in the past several months by Texas Gov. Perry’s campaign. Christie older employees have been quietly urging his supporters not to commit Perry, who show, Christie was still mulling the offer and would make a final decision after New Jersey legislative races will be completed in November. But in a rapidly changing landscape may be changing the primary program. Perry's rapid rise in the polls, and the indication may be fading - with annoying questions about Romney's ability to lead the party back-up copies of the Massachusetts health law program Obamacare eerily similar to Barack Obama - could have created the opportunity for Christie.

These writers are the best writing staff I have ever come across: Prime Suspect's' Tim Griffin

These writers are the best writing staff I have ever come across: Prime Suspect's' Tim Griffin: "Prime Suspect" premieres Thursday night and star Tim Griffin tells Zap2it he's been getting a very typical response from peopel who have seen the premiere episode - "I saw the pilot, you are so mean to Maria!" They are speaking, of course, of series star Maria Bello, who plays the brash, no-nonsense NYPD detective Jane Timoney. Griffin plays a detective in Timoney's new squad, part of the so-called "Beef Trust" that is less than thrilled to see Timoney join the ranks. "I am part of the infamous Beef Trust. My character is Det. Augie Blando. He's like every squad room cut-up, keeps it light with humor," says Griffin. "He's one of the best characters I've ever been able to play. It goes in some fantastic directions. These writers are the best writing staff I've ever come across." Bello was similarly complimentary of the team of writes, which includes a retired NYPD gold shield detective. Griffin says we'll be surprised with the way the writers go with the series. "The way you'll be happily surprised is the way these relationships evolve. You see a hint of it in the pilot, as some of us start to warm up to her," says Griffin. "She's so undeniably good at her job. She's a forthright, brash person who does things her own way and you gotta respect it. It's wonderful the way the squad evolves into quasi-friendships and alliances. There's this underlyinig humor that ties us all together, it's really exciting to see." "Prime Suspect" airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. on NBC. What did you think of the first episode? These writers are the best writing staff I have ever come across: Prime Suspect's' Tim Griffin

Cedric Benson Surprise suspension

Cedric Benson Surprise suspension : Cedric Benson served jail time only days prior to Cincinnati’s first game against Cleveland, but he didn’t hear from Commissioner Roger Goodell, which had many Bengals fans believing they were out of the woods. Not so. The league has swept in to suspend Benson three games, according to Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. Fantasy owners don’t have to panic (yet) because Benson will play this week pending an appeal that will be heard on Tuesday, according to Silver. What’s shocking about this is that Benson isn’t being punished for what he went to jail for “he already met with Goodell last summer in relation to the 2010 assault charge that landed him in the slammer in late August”. Instead, he’s been suspended for an assault charge he’s facing stemming from an incident that took place in July. During the lockout, No other player has been penalized by the league for bad behavior during the work stoppage. Kenny Britt and Aqib Talib went unscathed despite some fairly serious legal mishaps during that time period. So we’ll see if this gets messy or if Benson takes his medicine after what is likely to be a lost appeal. If that happens, Benson’s fantasy owners will pay quite the price. Benson, who was off to a fast start in 2011, is slated to go up against the beatable Bills, Jaguars and Chiefs in Weeks 4, 5 and 6.Cedric Benson Surprise suspension

Cause To Be Grateful That Gary Johnson Will Participate In Tonight's Debate

Cause To Be Grateful That Gary Johnson Will Participate In Tonight's Debate: Good news for good peoples that liberalism, but also can take Ron Paul seriously, because the act of sodomy or prehistoric, opposition to reproductive rights, and history of association with racism: tonight's debate wills former GOP governor of New Mexico. Gary Johnson, the thinking person's fringe candidate. Jon Huntsman may win liberal affection by tweeting about his love of Captain Beefheart and evolutionary science, but Johnson is the race's genuine voice of reason “or Reason”, opposing the drug war, mass incarceration and the military-industrial complex in no uncertain terms. Despite usually meeting most of the official "requirements," poor Johnson has thus far been shut out of GOP debates” and much of the press in general” due to the presence of perennial candidate Paul, who will not relinquish the "token libertarian" seat. Johnson, I think a much better chance of winning the disaffected youth in the liberal libertarian cause that Dr. Paul. There are two reasons that the presence of Johnson on Fox tonight's debate / Google will be welcome: first, Johnson, a former governor, instead of representing a current lone wolf, has a philosophy more pragmatic than Ron Paul. Johnson, interviewed by Dave Weigel, has a more compassionate answer to the "let him die" question that made Paul look particularly coldblooded at the last debate:  I would have answered that there are people in need, and I'm of the belief that government is the only entity able to provide in some cases. I think we can reduce what we spend on Medicare and Medicaid by 33%. There are hard cases like this, and should be treated by the state. But as the governor of a state, no, I do not want to see this kid to death! Cause To Be Grateful That Gary Johnson Will Participate In Tonight's Debate

GOP Debate Talk

GOP Debate Talk: Hours before the sixth debate, the Republican candidate for president, the mood among the crowd was one of giddy anticipation. Disappointment soon faded with the field. The political landscape has blossomed. And even if at times a sharp elbows thrown among the candidates, the possibility of regaining the White House is limited to wounded ego and hurt feelings. Spanky McFarland would be running, and if Obama would win, I vote for him, "said Neil Moore, a Republican from Chicago, and 30 years of union man, who was outside the Convention Center. Spanky McFarland did not vote on the ticket. But the point Moore is the same. Among the issues he felt when it comes to choosing candidates, eligibility is of paramount importance. That's why, as he says, his "mind," said his vote for Mitt Romney, while his "heart says," Rick Perry. I like Ron Paul, "says Moore.”I think it's a very intelligent man. But I do not think that his approach is very good. I do not know how else to say. Moore had to say no more. The crowd in the presidential debate Thursday night echoes these sentiments. If you do not agree on what was an eligible candidate. Romney certainly has the polish to take on Obama. But that wasn't necessarily a strong selling point. Listen," said Sherri Ortega of Florida, channeling a line she's heard ad nauseam on conservative talk radio, "we can never be good enough for the Democrats to vote for us so stop trying to be like Democrats. Romney has had six years to sharpen up his stances," she added. Perry, she said, should be given some "time to think about them. By "them" Ortega means, most specifically, Social Security, over which Romney and Perry have had some of their sharpest disputes. The former Massachusetts governor has insisted that Perry's talk of Ponzi schemes, illegality, and state-run retirement programs makes him vulnerable in a general election contest. Perry counters that he's simply talking straight. It's fixable," says Moore, apparently siding with Romney on this one. "Rise the retirement age. Lower the benefit levels over time to adjust for longer life expectancy. Give people an option to choose [a private plan]. And keep your freaking hands out of it. Quit stealing from it. I like the system. I want it improved. But not everyone thinks Social Security reform is that simple or, for that matter, all that toxic to discuss. It's a total Ponzi scheme, and I'm glad Perry said it," said a Florida woman who remained nameless. "Things were fine before Social Security was put in place. People took care of each other. Communities looked after each other. Florida State Senate President Mike Haridopolos, speaking in an interview with The Huffington Post, noted that the program was "not the third rail it used to be. Haridopolos, who is not affiliated with any campaign, pointed to the willingness of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) to talk about reforming Social Security during his successful campaign in 2010. While Perry may have gone too far in some of his rhetoric, Haridopolos added, there is widespread agreement with him on the need for changes to the system. "If the governor had his chance, he'd probably walk back some of the comments about it being a Ponzi scheme, but we need a real plan for Social Security," Haridopolos said. For others, Perry's bluntness was a virtue in its own right. Steve Hogan, 65, Palm Beach County, voted for Romney in the 2008 primary, but said he was leaning toward Perry at this time. He is basically honest, "said Hogan, the governor of Texas," and people realize you cannot tilt your words to make he look better. You can tell them a little 'clumsy, but he says what he means. I think the Americans are ready. Gaston Larranaga, 66, who came to Uruguay in the United States at age 23, enlisted in the Navy and then worked for IBM, has also said it was Perry Background despite Romney voted in 2008."I am on Social Security, and I am concerned about children who do not matter," said Larrañaga. "People are smarter now. There are a lot of things have been said all older people. I do not buy it. Perry is guilty of a language inconspicuous" Larrañaga said. "I think he can sell." Unlike Hogan and Larranaga, most of about a dozen participants surveyed said their minds yet to come up with a candidate who does not want to support. But even among the undecided masses, the fundamental question in the Republican field was the same.GOP Debate Talk

Frances Bean Cobain Grown Up & Modeling

Frances Bean Cobain Grown Up & Modeling: Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, is 19 years old, and she's stepped into the spotlight on her own. Can you even trust that adorable child girl is now a grown up young woman? Photographer Hedi Slimane lately took stunning black and white pics of Frances Bean Cobain showing how much she looks like both her late father and her mom. The girl's eyes are just striking, and she's a attractively tattooed back. On her back, she has inked "Art is the solution to chaos." Does she feel that her father's work helped create a solution? The late rocker's daughter even recorded backup vocals for Evelyn Evelyn, so perhaps she will make her own euphony joining her mom and dad in the global of rock and roll. How great would that be? Unfortunately Frances Bean Cobain and Courtney Love have a strained relationship, which must be hard for the teen. Even without either of her parents, she's managed to turn into an incredible young woman. It will be interesting to see what she does in the coming years as she carries on growing up.Frances Bean Cobain Grown Up & Modeling:

Daphne Guinness at F.I.T: Dressing for Excess

Daphne Guinness at F.I.T: Dressing for Excess: It is tempting to dismiss "Daphne Guinness exhibition at the Museum at FIT, which includes the cabinet of one of the great eccentrics of the most visible fashion, as an attempt to capitalize on the public's appetite for excess narcissistic. But the truth is that the pint-sized passion for design brewery heir is not inimitable extreme, it is completely true. Her funds might run as deep as her walk-in closets, but unlike countless other couture clotheshorses, Guinness doesn’t fetishize fashion as a status symbol. Instead, over the years, she has developed a sartorial persona that’s one part Victorian damsel, one part sci-fi geisha and 100 percent off the wall. The exhibit, well stocked with looks by Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Gareth Pugh and Azzedine Alaïa, is divided into six sections. The first "Dandyism," presents a masculine style, and a variety of measures, short jackets, while the "Armor" features "protection" pieces, including the nail in a dress suit and a silver ribbon and hood. It is a selection of elegant cocktail dresses and evening dresses in draped jersey, called respectively "Chic" and "Chic Evening." "Exotic" and "Sparkle" On the other hand, are full of bands that promotes flaming Guinness is often large public events. There are occasional experiments with colors and prints, sculpture, but the silhouette is a palette of severe black, white and metallic finally takes center stage. One of the chicest pieces on display is also the simplest: a black wool crepe suit from Chanel Couture, with perfectly fitted shoulders and a slight flare, the underskirt subtly dusted with hollow metallic sequins. While the mannequins’ Cruella de Vil streaked heads are a fun touch, they also underline the show’s surface appeal. It would be nice if there were more information provided about the narrative behind each piece the context in which it was worn, the year it was created, why it spoke to Guinness. Despite the show’s shortcomings, her intentions in agreeing to participate were honorable. After resisting invitations, Guinness was finally convinced when it was pointed out to her how meaningful the show would be for fashion students. She says, it’s “intended for them, to see the inside of seams, how the construction was done. There’s a new generation that might not have been able to see (these techniques) yet.” Speaking of receiving the sample, Guinness said that "some people will love it, some people hate it. And as much as people who hate for the same reasons." What it does is worth seeing Guinness is greater than lifelong commitment to free expression. While Guinness is all, however, fans of fierce individualism can breathe of relief as is Guinness: "Sometimes in a session, people want me to wear something that just is not me, and I cannot do It cannot be any more than I do anything." "Daphne Guinness" is the Museum at FIT to on January 7, 2012.

Instead of doing nothing, I want my son to see me singing on stages, because life is too precious to waste.” Chris then gave an impressive rendition of a self-penned song, titled ‘Young Homie’ for the panel. The track was obviously based on his own life and the soulful and emotional rendition was really quite moving. As well as mentioning the fact that he’s been clean for two months, one of the lines also said: "Young people look at you trippin homie outlook on life, such as how did I do wrong?" The judges loved the performance and the public including Chris gave a standing ovation for his efforts. New Info Facebook Changes Coming: Report

New Info Facebook Changes Coming: Report: The world's most popular social network is the set of implementing major changes in the profile pages of users, a report suggests. But what kind of changes, Is all that is going to be moved? Will it be confusing and your privacy at risk, according to Mashable, Facebook will unveil a "recasting" of the profile pages in its f8 developer conference on Thursday. What can we expect? Details are scarce, but two sources told the blog that the changes will make profile pages more “sticky” and there is a very good chance that there may be music/media components involved. Lastly, there is word that the new profiles will have an emphasis on “social ecommerce.”So could these rumors are true or is it mostly fluff, I think that there is evidence of the strength of this recently, Facebook is facing increasing competition from Google, which launched Google + social networks, and more recently in Google Wallet "service to help buyers make transactions easier every day from a mobile phone”. In what appears to be an attempt to make Facebook more like Google+, it launched new ‘Subscribe’ buttons allowing users to follow others without actually being “Friends.” The rumour that Facebook will offer more music/media options is something that even the New York Times has covered as well. Don’t forget, the more time users spend on Facebook than on other websites, the better. It wants everyone to discover and find neat websites and the hottest viral videos from Facebook, not from *cough* Google. It is not clear how this "important" change profile page will go down with nearly 700 million users on Facebook. Each time they make one change, there is usually an outpouring of anger. What do you think of the rumored changes? What do you want to look different with Facebook? - Maurice Cacho, MSN Tech & Gadgets,New Info Facebook Changes Coming: Report,

Dancing with The Stars Results 2011

Dancing with The Stars Results 2011: Mirror, mirror, ball, which was the least voted for the celebrity of all, Unfortunately for supermodel Petra Nemcova and her professional partner Dmitri Chaplin, the U.S. decided to vote for "Dancing with the Stars" on Tuesday, April 19. Two weeks ago, Peta and Dmitry were at the top of the rankings but tied for last last night, marking a 22. The bottom three couples were Petra and Dmitry, professional wrestler Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke and fan favorite “or so we thought” actress Kirstie Alley and Maks Chemerkovskiy. We're thinking fans might be getting annoyed at the judges for constantly giving Kirstie and Maks higher scores than they actually deserve. Oh yes, we went there.  The first couple sent to backstage-safety was Kirstie and Maks and we're assuming Maks' shirtlessness during their performance secured their safety. Judge Len Goodman called the bottom two "crazy" as Petra and Dmitri was one of the best couples of weeks ago, and Chris and Cheryl had his best performance on April 18. Finally, Petra and Dmitri were expelled from the ballroom. Not to be criticized or dance in front of a backdrop of the American flag ever. At least he learned to kiss on the cheek by Tom Bergeron "three times" goodbye! Doing things "Star" to go home? Want to Miss Petra and Dmitry? Sound off in the comments. Dolores Hope, Wife Of Bob Hope died at age 102us

Dolores Hope, Wife Of Bob Hope died at age 102: Dolores Hope, sensual expression of the singer who was married to Bob Hope for 69 years and sometimes sang on his shows for U.S. troops and the face of television, has died at the age of 102 Hope family spokesman Harlan Boll said Hope died Monday of natural causes at home in Los Angeles. He did not elaborate. Bob Hope has died at age 100, July 27, 2003. On his 100 birthday, hope seemed little changed: His white hair was richly landscaped, her skin smooth and her voice warm and deep. It was brought to the party in a wheelchair, but was awake and happy as she greeted old friends and asked for photos. Hope thought, "I thought it would be just another birthday."In 1933, when Bob Hope was appearing in his first Broadway show, "Roberta," his friend and fellow cast member George Murphy persuaded him to visit the Vogue Club to "hear a pretty girl sing." She was Dolores Reade, a dark beauty whose singing of "It's Only a Paper Moon" entranced the young comedian. "I'll never forget what a wonderful singer she was," said Rip Taylor. "In fact, that's how Bob and Dolores met. It seems to me that they were always laughing." Hope returned every night and soon he was escorting her to her hotel after her shows. They married Feb. 19, 1934, and she quit nightclubs to join his vaudeville act. Then she retired. "Bob was the hot thing in New York then," she recalled in 1997. "I thought I'd better stay home and take care of Bob." When they moved to Hollywood in 1938 for the beginning of his film career, Dolores stayed home and devoted her time to raising the four children the Hopes adopted: Linda, Anthony, Kelly and Nora. "I had such a huge admiration for both of them," said Julie Newmar. "The quality it takes to get just one year older, says a lot about that fact that she lived to 102." She continued singing at parties, and in the 1940s she began accompanying Hope on his Christmas trips to entertain U.S. troops. In 1966 she sang "Silent Night" to hushed thousands of GI's who then rose and gave her a thunderous ovation, many with tears in their eyes. In 1990, Mrs. Hope accompanied Bob on his last Christmas visit to American forces, visiting troops who were in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm. Marie Osmond, Ann Jillian and the Pointer Sisters did not perform, to avoid offending Saudi sensibilities about women entertainers. But Dolores Hope was approved and sang "White Christmas" to a rapt audience. "She was the first lady of the USO," said Carol Channing. "They didn't come any more patriotic, caring or talented than Dolores." She was born Dolores DeFina in 1909 in New York's Harlem to an Italian father and Irish mother, and grew up in the Bronx. Her diction faintly echoed the Bronx upbringing. “My father died when I was young, and not only was my mother, my sister and me, "she said in 1982." Do we have a family in need? I've always liked what General Eisenhower said: "We were poor and did not know." "She started singing from the beginning, he worked as a model and Ziegfeld showgirl and 20 sang with the group of George Olson. She adopted the name Dolores Reade, borrowed from stage actress Florence Reed. In her 80s, Dolores revived her singing career, recording three albums of old and new standards and appearing at New York's Rainbow and Stars as guest with Rosemary Clooney. Aside from overseeing two homes the 18,000 square-foot mansion in North Hollywood and the 25,000 square foot hilltop homes in Palm Springs Dolores Hope worked indefatigably for numerous charities. From 1969 to 1976 she served as president of the Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert, Calif., then becoming chairwoman. In 1982, she explained her philosophy: "I like being with people, but I also need my time alone, I think it is terribly important to have time during the day when you stop and take all the energy you have spent. And pull back, to find the source of your energy so you work from there. "By Bob Thomas contributed to the Associated Press Associated Press Writer Derrik Lang J. Fun to this report.

The Detroit lions

The Detroit lions: A good predictor of long-term success of the team is often the difference between the number of points to their score and the number of points you give up. So how come the Detroit Lions are 2-7? The Lions have actually outscored their opponents by 13 points this season, but they've also lost six games by a grand total of 23 points. These numbers suggest that they have had bad luck in close games like losing starting quarterback has a shoulder injury, twice!
